What’s your story?
I was bitten by the food bug more or less at birth, but it was whilst at University when I won a scholarship from the Jane Grigson & Savoy Education Trust, for my food criticism, that I knew that writing was my thing. I started Souperior in 2005 as a way of venting my frustrated food-journalistic feelings. Finally I gave in, quit my job and did my professional chef’s training at Leiths in London. Inspired by the food I was cooking and being exposed to on a daily basis, I relaunched Souperior in the summer of 2010.

How can we contact you?
Nice and simple! You can email me on souperior.blog[@]gmail.com

Why the pseudonym ‘Fahara’?
I started my original Souperior blog back in 2005, and at the time I used a pseudonym because I wanted the blog to be about the food, not about me. I honestly can’t say where the name Fahara came from – I’ve had the odd email from persons for whom Fahara is their genuine legal name and none of them have ever known the origin of the name or why they were called it either. Something mystical there perhaps…. Anyways, these days I strive to keep my blogging life and professional life separate, but operating under a pseudonym has become quite complicated so I work under my real name ‘Emma’, whilst occasionally referencing ‘Fahara’ so people from my old blogging days still know who I am.

I work hard on my recipes, and if you have a problem or query I’m more than happy to help (and if you’ve spotted an error please let me know so I can correct it!). I expect everyone using my recipes to use common sense and their own instincts. If a cake is browning too quickly, cover it with foil or lower the shelf. If your meringues have collapsed, you haven’t whipped them enough. Recipes are there for inspiration, not to be followed slavishly. Season things to taste and if you don’t like an ingredient, don’t put it in!
